The testing of border workers has once again come under fire after revelations Case B, a security guard at Auckland's Grand Millennium managed isolation facility, went almost five months without a COVID-19 test.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is blaming the security guard for lying - despite an investigation still being underway. And the Government has no idea how big the problem could be.

US federal health agencies on Tuesday recommended pausing the use of Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine for at least a few days after six women under 50 given the shot developed rare blood clots, dealing a fresh setback to efforts to tackle the pandemic.

Following the news, Johnson & Johnson (J&J) said it was delaying the rollout of the vaccine to Europe, a week after regulators there said they were reviewing rare blood clots in four recipients of the shot in the United States.

Anzac Day marks six months since this Government took office. Professor Robert Ayson argues it's time for our silent Defence Minister to begin staking out the positions on military policy and capability – before our bigger allies do it for him.

Jacinda Ardern’s first prime ministerial term began with a novel policy experiment. Courtesy of the post-election agreement with NZ First, the Labour Party subcontracted Wellington’s external engagement to its smaller coalition partner at the end of 2017.
