A missing Indonesian submarine has been found, broken into at least three parts, at the bottom of the Bali Sea, army and navy officials said on Sunday, as the president sent condolences to relatives of the 53 crew.

Rescuers also found new objects, including a life vest, that they believe belong to those aboard the 44-year old KRI Nanggala-402, which lost contact on Wednesday as it prepared to conduct a torpedo drill.

The Foreign Affairs Minister says New Zealand and China's significant economic ties mean Aotearoa must be "respectful" of the Asian superpower, even if there are areas of disagreement between the two nations.

Nanaia Mahuta's latest comments come as more overseas commentators accuse Wellington of cosying up to Beijing and undermining its standing within the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing network.

Currently, there's no set, nationwide speed limit when it comes to travelling around schools in New Zealand.

The limits vary from place to place causing confusion for drivers and safety concerns for parents.

But a new Government proposal could change that, with the aim to reduce speed limits around urban and rural schools.

You also need to be doing more education about the traffic safety at the school with the kids and I mean more... drum it into them.

Saturday marks Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day and pressure is mounting on the New Zealand Government to formally acknowledge the mass killings which began in 1915.

No New Zealand Government has ever officially recognised the genocide, over fears Turkey, which committed the atrocities, will ban Kiwis from visiting the Gallipoli battlefields.

A Kiwi Uighur says the Government isn't doing enough to help families whose loved ones have disappeared into one of China's detention camps.

China has detained more than a million people in camps in the country's northwest, according to international estimates, in what it claims is for reduction and combating terorrism. Some Western nations, including Canada and the US, have labelled it a genocide. New Zealand is not yet amongst them.

Foreign Affairs Minister Nanaia Mahuta is holding off following British MPs in declaring China's treatment of the Uighur people as a genocide, saying she'd like to know more first.

UK's House of Commons on Friday (NZ time) voted to recognise what is going on in Xinjiang, in China's northwest, as a genocide.

"All five criteria of genocide are evidenced as taking place in Xinjiang," said Conservative Party MP Nus Ghani, including "brutal torture methods, including beatings with metal prods, electric shocks and whips" as well as forced birth control.

The UK Parliament's vote comes after the US and Canada declared the Chinese dictatorship's actions as genocide.
