Newshub Nation can reveal that in April, a global count found thousands of links hosting child sexual abuse material are using the .NZ domain. Some are blaming data storage site Mega.nz for New Zealand's appearance in the study.

Twitter is being used to openly share material hosted on Mega. Every couple of minutes a new tweet promises links to the worst content imaginable, advertised using the hashtag #Megalinks, and other similar hashtags.

OPINION: Today's special virtual APEC summit was so modest in its aims that it was officially referred to only as an 'informal leaders' retreat on COVID-19'.

From the outset, host Jacinda Ardern dampened down expectations for the meeting, warning reporters not to expect any significant breakthroughs.

In that respect, New Zealand's Prime Minister was right. A joint statement issued after the meeting included vague commitments to accelerate the production and distribution of vaccines.

There was also agreement on the need to restore international travel links and strengthen supply chains that had been disrupted by the pandemic.

Labour MP Louisa Wall is calling for a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, something parliamentarians across Europe this month also expressed support for.

More than 180 human rights groups are calling for a boycott of next February's event in protest of human rights abuses underway in the Asian nation, including the treatment of the Uighur people in Xinjiang, anti-democratic behaviour in Hong Kong and expansion in the South China Sea.

"I do not accept any suggestion of a rural-urban divide," she said in response to the Groundswell protests on Friday. "What I accept is that we have national challenges."

It has now been revealed that the man fatally shot by police in Hamilton on Wednesday night had fired at officers with a military-style semi-automatic weapon.
