Xaria and I had gone to visit her parents in Alexandra for the night and on our way back on Friday Morning we decided we would go to Muddy Creek Cafe in Omakua.

Name: Muddy Creek Cafe
Address: 2 Harvey Street, Omakau 9376
Website: https://www.facebook.com/Muddy-Creek-Cafe-1047809501911008/

Leaving the hound at Xaria's parents place we actually left in two cars, and met up at Chatto Creek Tavern, and the continued in the one car. Xaria's mum had work at Chatto Creek at 11am and afterwards we would drop her off and the continue back pick the pup and continue on home. Makes sense in our head any way... I am pretty I have been here before but maybe not with Xaria possibly on one of my many other escapades on the Ducati with friends after a bike rally or something.

Arriving we we were greeted with a warm Central Otago welcome and deciding whether we were there for a breakfast or a scone and coffee... Xaria and mum got the eggs benedict and coffee's and while I was ummming and arrrrggghhhing Xaria got me a eggs benedict and a scone to go. I just went with it... wink

The coffees came out first and while we believed we ask for mine to be a large flat white I got a regular. (However not 100% sure if we did or not) I do believe as well that it was boarderline a cappuccino not a flat white, but not enough to worry about it was wet and that's what I needed.

Eggs benedict and coffee

Xaria's mum works in the kitchen at Chatto Creek Tavern... (Go visit good food if you are in the area.) And she commented how quickly the eggs benedict were ready. But to be fair we were the only ones sitting down to eat. There were locals coming in and out getting take away coffees though. They were pretty good, but you can't really go wrong with eggs benedict to be fair. It's good light breakfast and coffee to take the rough edges off the morning.

Muddy Creek Cafe

Th prices was reasonable as well x3 Eggs Benedict, a scone to go, and 3 coffee's was about $68.00. The Muddy creek was friendly and welcoming it also help Xaria's mum knew one of the kitchen hands as well as a couple of the locals. It definitely had that cafe feel to it even having a shelf wall full of old radiograms and old transistor radio etc all adding to the cafe atmosphere and culture feel that we keep writing about.

Its one of those places if your passing through Omakau stop in and get yourself a coffee.
