The girls were going for a ride so Bernie and myself decided we will go for a ride as well. We decided Middlemarch the "Kissing Gate Cafe". It is an old favorite for the many local bikers out there that do the Middlemarch loop.

Cafe: Kissing Gate Cafe
Address: 2 Swansea Street, Middlemarch 9596
Website: https://www.middlemarch.nz/where-to-eat/kissing-gate/index.html

We both needed gas, and decided to top up out at Mosgiel Z, and just as we were turning in I realised I forgot my mask. (for you over seas readers and readers from the future... Covid-19 need I was more). Bernie went in first to pay and also asked if they sold masks they said no, but we can give you one which was nice of them.

Bikes parked out the front of the Kissing Gate Cafe.

The ride was awesome  there was some brrrmmm brrrrmmm noises made and some weeeeeeeeeee! sounds were also made also some wahooo!!!, and lots of smiling as I took the Ducati ST4s through the twisties... but you are not here to read about that... Sorry.

The Kissing Gate, located just as you come into Middlemarch from the south on Highway 87. It is a coverted house turned into a cafe. For our overseas and non-local readers Middlemarch is a very small farming settlement with maybe 30 -50 houses, and even less families.

They checked our vaccine passports and and we both ordered a Cheese Roll, Sausage Roll and a coffee each. Since it was a lovely day we went outside and sat in the garden area. Again did not take that long, our coffees turn up pretty quickly and soon followed up buy our orders.

Coffee, Cheese Roll and Sausage Roll... (yum)

I must say both the Cheese Roll and the Sausage Roll were pretty darn good, decent size rolls both of them and decently priced... and are up there on my "damn that was good" list. I also enjoyed my coffee but as normal we won't critique the coffee.

I am glad that this we cafe is still going and that it hasn't really changed, it is still good food, and good coffee. Staff were friendly. The out door garden area is a bonus and makes a good atmosphere.
