Walking the dog this morning we wondered what cafe we would visit for our weekly weekend cafe visit. Last night Xaria mentioned "Joe's Garage" So Joe's Garage it was. To be fair we were not 100% sure if it meet with our criteria of being a cafe. Restaurant yes... cafe not so sure.

Name: Joe's Garage
Address: 19 Frederick Street, Dunedin North, Dunedin 9016
Website: https://www.joes.co.nz/dunedin

This criteria is; must do over the counter food or cabinet food (of some description) and not just a menu. Must have seating and not just take way.

Going in, we were seated at a table and given a menu which we thought oh, not a cafe really ... however we decided, I  needed a coffee, and decided since it was earlier than normal (since we had things to do at our normal time) that we would also order breakfast and a coffee which was fine.

The atmosphere was was friendly and welcoming and did kind a feel like walking into someone's mancave that was setup in a garage.

The waitress asked if she take our orders...Xaria had decided, I was tossing up between the Gorgeous George or burger... When she said "The burger is pretty good... It's what I usually get" me thinking of my carbohydrates... jokingly saying "You're not helping..." and decided on the burger...

The staff seem friendly and had a laugh. I ordered the Brekkie Burger and Xaria ordered the Gorgeous George with our standard Flat White, and Soy Flat White.

The waitress soon came back to us to apologise that there was no spinach and would it be okay to exchange that with lettuce... I gave her a blank look... and Xaria had to pop in and say "I don't think he cares or even realised it had spinach it it..."  Which to be fair, I didn't notice... I just saw it had bacon... and it was a burger... sounded good to me.

Brekkie Burger and smashed Spuds on the side.

Both the coffee and the food were pretty quick to be served and was pretty good and reasonably priced as well... Xaria enjoyed her Gorgeous George and the coffee wasn't too bad either... but again we won't critique the coffee

We were discussing would we class this as a cafe, and our first thought was no... but as were doing so, I looked up to the bar, and sitting there on the bar were various scones that we could have ordered, and that is over the counter food, that we could have had with our coffee. So technically yes... but barely...
