This is one of the cafe's that again we have been many times before we started this Cafescapade, but being Easter Sunday we were lucky it was open. To our overseas readers New Zealand has an archaic laws about trading over Easter, and especially Easter Sunday.
The good thing tough we didn't drive around aimlessly looking because Xaria checked before hand or something came up on the Facebook machine, although we did drive through town to see how many were open and to be fair there were a couple, but they all looked busy. The Black Dog was our go to although if we found one open that we hadn't previously been to then that would have been it... but alas as it turned out to be The Black dog it was.
The Black Dog is quiet a large cafe with ample seating and tables, and because of this it does have an an overall echo. Finding a a park was ... well luck so had it we parked two car parks down from the entrance... so no complaints from this lazy sod. ;-)

Finding our masks, and walking in to check over the selection of cabinet food, Xaria noted, to quiet the full selection they normally have. (Well it is Easter Sunday, some staff may have the day off, and add in we are also still in COVID-19 restrictions etc) but there was still a decent selection, an today was Sausage rolls, and coffee for morning tea. (To be honest I did have a hot cross bun earlier... why? because it was there and it was my first and only one for Easter)
We found a seat and table up the front looking out over the street, so like yesterday we could watch the world go by... and being Easter... it was going by pretty slowly if I was to be honest.
The sausage rolls turned up first and pretty quick with a side of chutney. Our coffees weren't too far behind. Like yesterday the sausage roll had grated carrot mix in the sausage meat giving that moist sweet flavour. The chutney was also sweet and went well the the roll. It went down well.
Our coffees we both enjoyed. Price wise pretty good and reasonable and we don't think there was a surcharge for Easter trading. Which to be fair we were expecting. This is one of those cafes that since we have been here a few times now we knew kind of what we were getting, and that it was going to be pretty good.
We will see you next time on our next Cafescapade.
