Easter Saturday, there will be a mix of cafes open and closed so instead of randomly driving around looking to see who is open and who is not... a little research from Mr Google your friendly neighbourhood search engine that seems to know everything to give us an answer and well it gave us an answer.
Name: The Outpost
Address: 182 Main Road Waikouaiti 9510
Website: https://www.theoutpostcafe.co.nz
We were initially going to go to McCafe and get done and dusted, I have been dreading... (15 years ago worst coffee ever) However it wasn't open till 11am and well we wanted to go now, Xaria then said "The Outpost" in Waikouaiti was open and our decision was made.
Coffee and Sausage rolls (The Outpost Cafe)
Nice little drive there discussing Life the Universe and everything... we came up with the answer of 42.
They had a good selection over the counter cabinet food, sausage & cheese rolls, scones, and different pastries as well sweet cakes etc. Today we both decided on a sausage roll and coffee.
We would say it would be a busy wee cafe on the normal routine day, while we were there, there were a plenty patrons and customers coming and going for both dinning in and take away. I would also say the locals are supporting it quite nicely. Well I hope they are. Which is always good.

Deciding to sit indoors today we found a seat but there was plenty of outdoors seating if the day was slightly warmer... Sitting inside by the window and watching the world go by waiting for our food and coffee to arrive which to be fair and honest did not take long at all, due to the fact the sausage rolls didn't need heating as they came from a warmer. Our coffees didn't take to much longer after that.
Now the food warmer can be a good thing and also a bad thing, today as we were early enough the food had not long been in the warmer as the warmers can dry the food out depending how long it has been sitting there for, but you never know how long it has been in there. So as I said it can be a good thing as well as a bad thing.
On saying all that Xaria liked her sausage roll as it had grated carrot in it which gave it a nice soft texture and flavor and I tend to agree. It didn't however, come with a side serving of sauce which generally is standard, bit the waitress unprompted, did come back with a bottle of good ole kiwi tomato sauce. Not a complaint just a note in passing.
Our coffees were nice however, border line not a flat white and border line a cappuccino, like it was fine not just not quite a flat white, not quiet a cappuccino ish... Again not a complaint just a comment as there is a fine line.
Prices was pretty good and reasonable, but it was an extra $1 for the soy milk which is usually only .50c, this is just a comment not a complaint.
Over all staff seemed friendly and it was good Cafescapade experience.
