A Navy crew is heading to remote Raoul Island, in the Kermadec Islands, to check in on the weather and tsunami warning systems there.

Tsunami warnings were put in place across New Zealand last week, and people evacuated in Bay of Plenty and Northland, following three earthquakes in the Kermadecs.

The Government has purchased an additional 8.5 million Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines, bringing the total to 10 million - enough to vaccinate every New Zealander. 

The Government's original agreement with Pfizer was for approximately 1.5 million doses, enough to vaccinate 750,000 people. It also ordered 5 million from Janssen, 3.8 million from AstraZeneca and 5.36 million from Novavax.

In their little-noticed interview with emerging talent Oprah Winfrey in recent hours, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, formerly known as royal highnesses, said that among the places they considered moving after everything went belly up was New Zealand.

An Air New Zealand crew member is concerned the current COVID-19 protocols for staff don't adequately protect the wider community. 

It follows a crew member testing positive for the virus on Sunday after landing in Auckland from Tokyo, Japan on February 28.

China's foreign minister has blasted allegations his country is carrying out genocide on Uighur Muslims as "ridiculously absurd".

Wang Yi said the allegations were "a complete lie" during an annual news conference on Monday.

Being granted an unmanned aircraft operator certificate is a "very transformative step" for Dawn Aerospace, general manager James Powell says.

A flight attendant who visited an Auckland supermarket has tested positive for Covid-19.

Fourteen other air crew are being contacted and asked to isolate and re-test, the Ministry of Health said.

It is not ruling out local transmission of the virus in Auckland, but says the risk to the public is low.
