A work van from a nationwide uniform and linen supplier with the tagline 'reducing risk and staying safer' has been caught brazenly overtaking a truck on double yellow lines.

Around 8:15am on Wednesday, an ALSCO vehicle was captured performing a shocking example of dangerous driving by a truck's dashcam on State Highway 3 between Tariki and Midhirst in Taranaki.

The company van can be seen overtaking the truck at the end of a passing lane, driving on the wrong side of the road and narrowly missing an oncoming vehicle.

"This light commercial vehicle decides to risk their life, and others, just to get in front," the truck driver told Newshub.

"I thought it was going to be fatal."

The ALSCO website boasts the slogans, 'keeping us safe' and 'reducing risk and staying safer'.

ALSCO did not immediately respond to Newshub's request for comment.

The truck driver had a message for the motorist: "Bloody idiot."
