Amid trucks shifting metal and planes soaring through the sky, work to build a roost for the air force's newest birds has begun.

Piercing the stones with a shovel at Ōhakea air base, Defence Minister Peeni Henare on Tuesday signalled the start of the largest construction project the Defence Force has undertaken.

Boeing has been awarded a contract worth approximately NZ$150 million to provide P-8A Poseidon training for the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF).

The aircraft manufacturer was appointed by the United States Navy to work on a suite of training systems and courseware to prepare RNZAF aircrew and maintenance staff to safely and effectively operate and maintain the aircraft for decades to come.

The New Zealand Ministry of Defence’s Nick Gillard MNZM and NZDF’s Group Captain Pete Franken introduce the New Zealand Information Domain Review and Information Domain Delivery Strategy at the NZDIA’s IDEAS 2020 Part Two.

According to Nick Gillard, Director Land Domain (and previously Director Information Domain) it is in the Defence Capability Plan 2019 that the concept of the information domain was mooted for the first time. Since then, Defence has launched the Information Domain Review (IDR) and the Information Domain Delivery Strategy (IDDS).
