A stabbed man escaped his attacker in a car before dying, police say.
The man, aged in his late 40s, was involved in an altercation at a home in the Christchurch suburb of Riccarton about 8.45pm on Saturday.
He suffered serious stab wounds at the Wainui St property before fleeing in a vehicle to Clarence St where he was found about 9.30pm and died a short time later.
A 31-year-old man has been charged with murder and a 38-year-old man has been charged with assault.
The pair will appear in Christchurch District Court on Monday.
