There has been one new death and five new cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand, Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield confirmed on Monday.
The new cases include one confirmed and four probable. Three of the new cases are linked to the St Margaret's Hospital and Rest Home. The other two are linked to other cases.

The COVID-19 lockdown will switch to alert level 3 tonight which means Kiwis are about to get a small taste of freedom.

Thomas Oxley wasn't even on call the day he received the page to come into Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan. There weren't enough doctors to treat all the emergency stroke patients, and he was needed in the operating room.
The US patient's chart appeared unremarkable at first glance. He was male, no medications, no history of chronic conditions. He had been feeling fine, hanging out at home during the lockdown like the rest of America, when suddenly, he had trouble talking and moving the right side of his body.

The coronavirus alert level 4 lockdown will finish in New Zealand in one week as Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced that the nation will shift into the lighter alert level 3.
The nation will shift to alert level 3 on Tuesday, April 27, and that will continue for two weeks, allowing roughly half a million to return to work, as long as they can exercise physical distancing and help to reduce the virus from spreading.
