There might be thousands of Kiwis out there who've had COVID-19 without even realising it, or could be suffering ongoing effects without knowing that's the cause, researchers say.

A study published earlier this week found eight previously unknown cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand, by looking for antibodies to the disease in blood donated by nearly 10,000 people - known as seroprevalence. The cases were found around the country, in seven different district health board regions.

A petition to change New Zealand's "archaic" law preventing victims of domestic violence from divorcing their partners has been launched, attracting more than 1300 signatures in its first few days online.

At present, married or civil union partners have to be officially separated for at least two years before either party can apply for a divorce, formally known as a dissolution.

The Royal New Zealand Navy's newest and largest-ever ship HMNZS Aotearoa has made its first visit to its ceremonial home port in New Plymouth today.

The $450 million supply ship came into service last year and at 173m long it can carry 10.5 million litres of fuel - or enough to 'top up' a frigate almost 14 times.

OPINION: The speculation that Five Eyes will become Four Eyes is completely ridiculous.

There is no way New Zealand is going to be given the boot from an 80-year-old spying alliance simply because (shock horror) we want to exercise independent foreign policy.

Household living costs rose 0.8 percent in the March 2021 quarter, the latest Statistics New Zealand Consumer Price Index survey shows.

Consumer prices are on their way up, as petrol, transport and rent are becoming more expensive.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) survey measures how price changes affect the average consumer. It looks at goods and services people spend money on and records the quarterly and annual price change - how much prices have gone up or down.

New Zealand faces the prospect of expulsion from the Five Eyes intelligence alliance, according to the Daily Telegraph's defence editor, Con Coughlin, who says Jacinda Ardern has a preference for "cosying up to China's communist rulers".

He refers to Jacinda Ardern as New Zealand's "tiresomely woke Prime Minister".
