A Sydney high school teacher has pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old boy.
Twenty-four-year-old Monica Elizabeth Young pleaded guilty after her lawyer told the court she wanted to put the boy "out of his misery" as quickly as possible.
The teacher was supposed to face a week-long trial in September this year due to allegations she sexually assaulted a male student midway through 2020, according to news.com.au.
According to 7 News, Young had formally pleaded not guilty to five counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with the teenager earlier this year.
But on Tuesday at the Downing Centre District Court, the teacher pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual intercourse with the teenager between June and July 2020, according to the news station.
News.com.au reported the charges were aggravated because the boy was under her authority at the time, the court heard.
The teacher allegedly sent the teenager vulgar sexual messages on Snapchat and CCTV footage was believed to show Young moving the boy's hand under a table towards her groin, 7 News reported.

In August last year, Young's lawyer argued she may have been brainless in her dealings but denied all allegations of sexual contact with the boy.
The teacher's bail was continued so she can obtain help and support from the community before she is due in court in late June for a sentencing hearing.
