China is heaping praise on New Zealand as "an example for Australia in how to deal" with foreign affairs after Trade Minister Damien O'Connor suggested our trans-Tasman neighbour practice "more diplomacy" with China.
O'Connor's remarks have riled some Australian politicians, such as Liberal MP Dave Sharma, who told The Sydney Morning Herald: "I don't see this advice from New Zealand as particularly insightful or helpful."

Immigration Minister Kris Faafoi is warning tour and event organisers to sort their border requirements before trying to enter New Zealand after a cruise ship failed to secure visas for all its crew.
Officials have been communicating with operators of Le Lapérouse, a 264 passenger luxury French cruise ship currently less than 300 miles away from Auckland after it sailed from Singapore. The ship is now being held at sea pending further decision.

The Australian government has extended the suspension of its Green Zone travel corridor with New Zealand for another 72 hours amid concerns about a potential community coronavirus outbreak.

New Zealand's making "steady progress" on a free trade agreement (FTA) with the United Kingdom, but won't compromise on quality amid reports a deal is "just weeks away".
The third round of FTA negotiations between Aotearoa and the UK began on Tuesday with officials looking to "substantively progress and in some areas conclude" discussions. Talks formally launched back in June following Britain's exit from the European Union the January prior.
