Walking along John Wilson Drive for our morning walk ... well walking the dog (a Jack Russell called Rimu) and we were trying to decide what was our cafescapade cafe for the day.
Name: Hunger Hub Cafe and Restaurant
Address: 168 King Edward Street, South Dunedin, Dunedin 9012
Website: https://www.facebook.com/hungerhub.nz/
The Hunger Hub was the decision. We went early-ish, just as they cafe was opening and they were technically still setting up, when I say they it appeared to be just one person as not everything was set up. We asked if they had sausage roll as well as Cheese Rolls, and the answer was yes we can do that. And the first time there was a choice of size of cheese rolls, large and small. Two large cheese rolls, and two sausage rolls, and our standard coffee's. So no lunch for me.
We found a table by the window so we could sit and watch the world go by. The cheese rolls and coffees came pretty quickly and a little bit longer for sausage rolls.
Xaria said about the cheese roll, "10 out of 10 for ooziness @hunger hub south Dunedin" and I had to agree. The cheese rolls were good as were the sausage roll.
There were people coming and going mostly take away and while not overly busy it was enough of a good sign that people enjoy this cafe. I do always look for this.

I asked Xaria a few standard questions;
- Does it feel like a cafe?
- Were the prices pretty good?
- Did you enjoy the food?
Her answer was basically yes, which is a good thing. So the cabinet or over the counter food was "PDG" or "Pretty Darn Good", the staff was "PDF" or "Pretty Darn Friendly". Cost wise our lot came to $32.50 which wasn't to bad. There was plenty of seating if it got busy and while technically not the cafe seating there was council seating and table outside around the corner if you ordered take away and then decided to sit outside.
Overall a good cafescapade experience. We are finding out that the New Zealand Cafe Culture is pretty good and pretty high in New Zealand.
