Prominent Northland doctor Lance O'Sullivan has hit out at the country's current response to the measles outbreak.
O'Sullivan has reiterated his call for New Zealand to adopt Australia's "no jab, no pay" strategy and introduce a higher tax rate for those who do not vaccinate their children.
"You've got to hit both ends of the spectrum here. It's not just about welfare bashing," he said.

Low ticket sales may have played a part in the postponement of this year's military tattoo, despite Palmerston North City Council saying it was delayed due to the mosque attacks.
The New Zealand Tattoo was supposed to be on 12-13 April, but Palmerston North City Council pulled the pin three weeks out from the event on 20 March - five days after the 15 March shootings in Christchurch - postponing the show until next year, and cutting it from two nights to one.

When Kelly Lynn had an accident six months ago she thought she was covered but discovered a major loophole in her AMI insurance.
Kelly’s third party insurance cover included an "innocent party protection" clause, which would cover up to $3000 for car repairs if the driver of her car could prove they were not at fault.

Each year, the U.S. gets about 1,000 applications from immigrant families in the U.S. seeking permission to stay in the country and not face deportation so family members can continue lifesaving medical care that is not available in their home countries.
But the Trump administration recently told families who were granted permission to stay for medical care that their permission to stay has been rescinded and they have 33 days to leave the country. The policy, which was not publicly announced, is being applied retroactively to any requests filed on or before Aug. 7.

The Green Party seems to have accidentally given away a clue about the Government's hotly-anticipated KiwiBuild reset: that a rent-to-own scheme could be in the mix.
On Monday afternoon, two days out from the Government announcing the reset, Newshub received a text from the Greens about the party's rent-to-own policy, saying "if rent-to-own is included in the KiwiBuild reset on Wednesday did you want to talk to Marama? You can cancel if it's not included."
