Many Kiwis reported witnessing an unusual string of lights in the sky last night, but it was nothing extra terrestrial.  

The lights are from the latest SpaceX launch of Starlink satellites, according to Tauranga Astronomical Society.

An aviation commentator says a total travel ban to China would be a logistical nightmare as coronavirus strikes globally.

Air New Zealand has suspended flights to China along with other airlines across the globe, with flights to Shanghai to be suspended until the end of March.

Police have tightened their use of wanted posts on social media amid accusations they are public humiliation akin to parading people in the stocks.

A police staffer conceded some mug shots of distinctive offenders are a magnet for mocking comments, according to internal documents written in the same year a petition attracted thousands of signatures to stop the "facilitation of bullying on (police) social media platforms".

Auckland Council and the Government are looking at alternative options to housing the city's homeless.

Mayor Phil Goff has suggested using so-called ‘ghost houses’ and asking their owners to open them up for housing New Zealand tenants.

Australia will deny entry to any foreign travellers who have passed through China to try and contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the new policy on Saturday, saying Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family, legal guardians or spouses will be exceptions to the rule, reports The Guardian.
