President Joe Biden, his voice breaking with emotion, vowed on Thursday the United States would hunt down those responsible for twin explosions at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan and said he asked the Pentagon to develop plans to strike back at them.
Biden spoke hours after the blasts killed at least a dozen American troops and scores of civilians, the worst day of casualties for U.S. forces there in a decade.

All of New Zealand from the south of Auckland will be moving to alert level three on Tuesday - also known as lockdown but with takeaways. Meanwhile, Auckland and above will remain in level four for at least two weeks.
On Friday Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said due to the Delta outbreak in Auckland it's too soon for New Zealand's biggest city to reduce restrictions.

There have been 70 new cases of Covid-19 in the community reported in New Zealand today, as the government considers whether to the extend the national lockdown.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health said there were 19 community cases in hospital, including one in ICU. All were in a stable condition.

Jacinda Ardern has promised "future evacuation" of New Zealanders and eligible Afghans who have not made it out, though she admits subsequent operations will "look different" due to allies withdrawing.
The Prime Minister made the promise on Friday after the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) was forced to abandon plans for two more evacuation flights, due to terrorist threats made by ISIS-K, an affiliate of Islamic State active in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Allied forces continue to airlift Afghan refugees out of Kabul in the thousands after the Taliban seized power this month. Is New Zealand doing its share to make a new home for these and other refugees? National Correspondent Lucy Craymer reports.

The Government has ended its effort to evacuate New Zealand citizens, their families, and Afghan allies from Afghanistan after a terror attack at Kabul’s international airport.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern Friday morning announced the last flight of a Defence Force Hercules into Kabul was completed on Thursday, prior to the attack.

As the Delta outbreak continues to grow and New Zealand's vaccine rollout ramps up, there are questions around whether employers can fire people for refusing to get the jab.
Last month the Government expanded its mandatory vaccine requirements to include workers at ports and airports who are at the greatest risk of exposure to COVID-19.
