Five Aucklanders who turned up for their Covid-19 vaccine last month may have got a dose of saline solution instead, but the Ministry of Health still has not told them.

The ministry still has not been able to say what will be done to ensure those affected will receive two full Pfizer doses.

Those hunkering down include employees of the collapsed government, civil society activists and women. They are desperate for news that they might be granted asylum somewhere else.

A large group of dirt bike riders seen riding around the streets of south Auckland during lockdown has sparked local residents’ concern.

Locals said the bikers have been riding in groups down Great South Rd, Papatoetoe, almost every day since New Zealand entered level 4 lockdown on August 18.

Cabinet announced last Monday New Zealanders and Afghan allies would be evacuated from Afghanistan.

Driven by high vaccination rates, rules were cast aside in favour of reigniting the economy. Sports stadiums reopened to maximum capacity, as did nightclubs. Mandatory mask rules were left behind, too.
