Former prime minister Helen Clark is calling on rich nations, like New Zealand, to address the “disgraceful” Covid-19 immunisation rates of poorer countries, such as Papua New Guinea, by supplying them with more vaccine doses.
Clark, who was the administrator of the United Nations Development Programme from 2009 to 2017 after serving three terms in Aotearoa's top job, said on Tuesday that the vaccine “needs to be a gift to the world”.

Clark said it used to be a “behind-the-scenes intelligence exchange” but had become a tool for power houses like the US to influence other countries.
“This is a huge threat to New Zealand’s foreign policy. [Five Eyes] shouldn’t be used like that,” Clark said.
Ummm that is why you have intelligence gathering in the first place... so you can influence other countries...

A week out from the COP26 climate negotiations in Glasgow, all eyes are on two nations: China and the United States. Together, the superpowers are responsible for more than 40 percent of global carbon emissions. US-China relations have been fractious in recent years, and whether they can cooperate on climate action is crucial to success at COP26 and beyond.
US progress on climate change went backwards under the Trump administration, but President Joe Biden has brought the nation back to the table. Biden wants to cooperate with China in this critical policy sphere, raising hopes of a less adversarial bilateral relationship.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that he had told his foreign ministry to expel the ambassadors of the United States and nine other Western countries for demanding the release of philanthropist Osman Kavala.
Seven of the ambassadors represent Turkey's NATO allies and the expulsions, if carried out, would open the deepest rift with the West in Erdogan's 19 years in power.

- Note from Nighthawk.NZ:
While yes I would like NZ to part of AUKUS (I am not anti Nuclear power...) to be part of the security on the quantum computing and cyber technologies etc... issue is it is an all in or all out. You can't pick and choose...
If NZ really wants to get in on the game of "Quantum Computing" and "Cyber Defenses" etc... we would better off to (and would be easier to) start a new collective group and call it "Behind the 8 ball". Basically forget about AUKUS. Since in general it is all based around the nuclear submarine program.
Make this new collective around Cyber Security, Quantum Computing, other sciences and technologies in the field... ie; communications... so throw in Space ie; Rocket Lab, Dawn Aerospace, and a few other aerospace company's for good measure.

Those working on the frontline treating the majority of south Auckland's COVID-19 cases say they are in a race against time before more lives are lost to the virus.

- Note from Nighthawk.NZ:
You can yell and scream and warn people as much as you like, but if they don't want to get vacinated for what ever reason there is not a lot you can do about it. And yes these same people are the ones that will get the virus and spread it to others and complain. As for low Maori numbers... again they have been told they have had the same chance as every other person in the country.
