Myanmar’s ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi appeared in court in person Monday for the first time since the military arrested her when it seized power on February 1, Myanmar media reported.

One of her lawyers, Min Min Soe, told The Associated Press by phone that Suu Kyi was able to meet with her defence team before her hearing began at a special court set up inside the city council building in Naypyitaw, the capital. The hearing's purpose was procedural.

Any talk of a cooling housing market is premature, if the latest real estate sales data is anything to go by - with just one in 100 residential properties failing to make a profit in the first quarter of the year.

Property database CoreLogic on Tuesday released its Pain and Gain report for January-March 2021, in which it revealed profit-making residential property resales had reached 98.9 percent - the highest peak in the 25 years this data set has been recorded.

The Government intends to rewrite the Defence Force’s priorities, as the defence minister signals a possible move away planned billion-dollar investments in ships and aeroplanes.

The Defence Force received $5 million in new spending in Budget 2021, announced by the Government on Thursday. The allocation, for maintaining the defence estate, was a fraction of the more than $2 billion allocated in 2019, and $1.7 billion in 2020 for big ticket items like new Hercules aeroplanes.
