New Zealand is moving to the new traffic light system from 11:59pm on Thursday December 2, meaning Kiwis will have to navigate a new set of rules on where they can visit and what they can do.
Making the announcement on Monday, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said setting the date now would give people, communities and businesses time to prepare.

Wuhan scientists were studying viral samples of high-risk bat species living in Laos - the country where the closest relative to Covid-19 has been found, leaked documents show.
In September, researchers discovered a viral strain called Banal-52 in Laos which shares 96.8 per cent of its genome with Sars-CoV-2, bolstering claims that the pandemic was caused by a natural spillover event, rather than a lab leak.

Rocket Lab has successfully completed its first mission in almost four months, with a launch on Thursday afternoon from the Māhai Peninsular near Gisborne going smoothly.
The company last week delayed the launch – which was first since it listed on the United States’ Nasdaq stock market in August – because of a suspect sensor reading.

A United States Navy ship will visit New Zealand in the next fortnight, it's been announced, providing an opportunity for our Defence Force (NZDF) to receive more training.
The vessel - an Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer - will berth in Wellington at some point this month, the NZDF announced on Wednesday. While on our shores, the ship's crew will train and interact with NZDF personnel, as well as take part in interoperability exercises and official engagements.
