Note from Nighthawk.NZ:

the paragraph where she says "New recruits to the NZ defence forces, who joined up hoping for job security, to learn a trade and develop a skillset, may be in for a nasty shock if asked to take up arms against this sea of trouble." is the dumbest thing I have heard in years, anyone who joins the armed forces knows the risk and knows that they may be asked to actually go to war... to say that they could be in for a shock if asked is just pure and utter crap.

New Zealand has to pick a side...we can not sit on the fence... and the way China has been aggressively pushing its weight around in the south china sea and pacific... we better pick the correct side to that is willing to push back.

China approved a contentious national security law for Hong Kong that takes direct aim at some of the actions of anti-government protesters last year.

It is a move many see as Beijing's toughest yet to erase the legal firewall between the semi-autonomous territory and the mainland's authoritarian Communist Party system.

Australia has snapped awake from a long slumber with its new defence strategy.

It doesn't propose major new fleets of subs or strike fighters beyond the pre-existing plans. That's partly because they take many years and Australia has realised it has no years left.
