The daughter of a senior Hells Angel gang member was recruited into Police College, then suspended shortly before her wing graduated after the relationship was vetted more closely.

The young woman declared the family ties to her father - it is believed she claimed to be estranged from him - during the application process and was accepted into the 16-week programme this year.

A North Shore teenager who admitted raping two schoolgirls and violating another - while they were too drunk to stop him - has been sentenced to 12 months' home detention on the basis of his age and previous good character.

The sentence has outraged victim advocates and those who know the teen, saying it sends a dangerous and "awful" message to other young men.

Seven thousand employees at The Warehouse will now be paid a living wage after four days of negotiations.

At least 10 teenagers have been injured - five critically - after gunfire broke out at a United States high school football game.

The shooting at Ladd-Peebles stadium in Mobile, Alabama happened just after a game between Leflore High School and Williamson High School finished.

As Auckland's outbreak of measles continues to worsen, health officials have been seeing 18 to 20 new cases per day in the past week. 

Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) Medical officer of health Dr William Rainger told media on Saturday there had been 778 cases of measles in the year to date. Most of those affected are children under five and young people aged 15-29.

Working as a team. A major Search and Rescue (SAR) exercise was held recently in Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf, which combined the skills of Royal New Zealand Air Force units and outside agencies. It was an opportunity for all involved in SAR events to learn from each other and strengthen ties.
