Hong Kong's pro-democracy opposition lawmakers said on Wednesday they would resign in protest against the dismissal of four of their colleagues from the city assembly after Beijing gave local authorities new powers to further curb dissent.
The Chinese parliament earlier adopted a resolution allowing the city's executive to expel lawmakers deemed to be advocating Hong Kong independence, colluding with foreign forces or threatening national security, without having to go through the courts.

The Democratic presidential candidate appeared likely to win the US presidency on Thursday evening, as he neared a majority in several key swing states. President Donald Trump baselessly alleged voter fraud had occurred, and his campaign filed lawsuits to stop vote counting in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The second UK-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiating round took place from 19th October to 2nd November.
Negotiators carried out 46 sessions over two weeks, covering all areas of the proposed FTA, and bringing us closer to agreeing an ambitious FTA. Between round one and round two both sides shared 35 draft texts and 25 position papers, which enabled detailed and constructive talks.

A UN watchdog is urging Helen Clark to step down from leading the World Health Organization (WHO) inquiry into COVID-19's origins, saying she "can't credibly investigate China's role" in the pandemic.
