Two travellers to Sydney are confirmed to have the Omicron variant of COVID-19, NSW Health says on Sunday night.
Both passengers came to Sydney from southern Africa on the evening of Saturday November 27. They were tested on arrival and this came back positive for COVID-19 late last night. Both are full vaccinated and are now in isolation in the Special Health Accommodation.

New Zealand is moving a number of southern African countries onto the 'very high risk' country list in a bid to contain the spread of Omicron, Chris Hipkins has announced.
Those countries are: South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Seychelles, Malawi and Mozambique.

New Zealand is well prepared for the discovery of new coronavirus variants that may be resistant to vaccines, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Friday, including the strain currently spreading in South Africa.
"All of our planning around COVID, we have built into it the possibility of variants in the future," Ardern said in an interview for the upcoming Reuters Next.
