A man accused of murdering a toddler left an answer phone message saying sorry just moments after he inflicted her fatal head injuries, a court has heard.
Aaron Archer could be heard saying "I'm sorry ... Ariah, Ariah" in the message played to the jury at the High Court in Auckland on Thursday.

Police officers need more training on trespass laws to avoid accidentally breaking them while making arrests, a solicitor says.
The call comes after a High Court judge quashed an Auckland man's drink-drive convictions because a police officer unlawfully arrested him in his driveway after he refused a breath test.
Solicitor Umar Kuddus said he had seen the situation “time and time again” and had personally dealt with two cases in the past 12 months.

A motorist who stopped for a nap in the Coromandel while on his way home from work in Auckland, has been hit with a $200 fine for freedom camping.
After finishing work in Auckland at 2am, the man started his journey home to Waiomu, Coromandel, according to a Facebook post.
