The Government will be developing an unemployment insurance scheme along with Business NZ and CTU to prepare for the future of work.

The public will be able to consult on an "ACC-style" unemployment insurance scheme later this year that would provide 80 percent of income for people who may be made redundant or lost their jobs through no fault of their own.

Work on the largest and most complex construction project ever undertaken by the Ministry of Defence and New Zealand Defence Force is picking up pace, with the foundations laid and piles drilled for the new Base Ōhakea.

When complete, the new base will be home to No. 5 Squadron and their four new Royal New Zealand Air Force P-8A Poseidon aircraft.
