China has sent a chilling warning to the Five Eyes, including New Zealand, after the group expressed "serious concern" at the Middle Kingdom's Hong Kong policy.
The Five Eyes intelligence sharing alliance - composed of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States - released a joint statement on Thursday critical of Beijing for imposing new rules allowing the disqualification of elected lawmakers in Hong Kong.

The United Kingdom will ban the sale of new cars that run only on petrol from 2030, in an attempt to tackle climate change and have a "green industrial revolution".
The Government said in a statement on Wednesday it will end the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles five years earlier than previously planned, but sales of new hybrid vehicles will be allowed to continue until 2035.

Border workers will face new and more frequent tests for COVID-19 to "strengthen" New Zealand's response against the virus.
The additional regulations, announced by COVID-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins on Thursday, apply to all international airports and ports and build on the current mandatory testing orders for border staff.

A Danish study released on Wednesday found face masks provide the wearer with only limited protection against COVID-19 infection, but said this should not be used to argue against their widespread use to prevent people infecting others.
In the study, which was carried out in April and May when Danish authorities did not recommend wearing face masks, 6,024 adults were divided into two groups, one wearing face masks and one control group

Te Kahika's NZPP joined forces with Advance NZ ahead of the 2020 election campaign, with the pair hoping to combine their party's followings to get a party vote above the 5 percent threshold required to get into Parliament.
