Police will patrol major Auckland transport hubs to ensure people are complying with new rules that make it mandatory for face masks to be worn on public transport.
The new regulations come into effect at 11:59pm on Wednesday and will apply to everyone over the age of 12 travelling on public transport in and out of Auckland. The drivers of small passenger service vehicles in Auckland, such as taxis and app-based ride services, will have to wear them too, but not their passengers.

President Donald Trump asked for options on attacking Iran's main nuclear site last week but ultimately decided against taking the dramatic step, a US official said on Monday.
Trump made the request during a meeting on Thursday with his top national security aides, including Vice President Mike Pence, his new Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller, and General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the official said.

The Government says there is still no direct link between New Zealand meat and traces of coronavirus found in China.
Reuters reported at the weekend coronavirus had been found on frozen beef and tripe and its packaging from New Zealand, Brazil, and Bolivia, as well as on pork from Argentina. On Monday, NZ's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said it was working to verify the reports.
