The Vanguard Specialty Coffee Co is another older cafe that we visited many times before but no on an official cafescapade.

Name: Vanguard Specialty Coffee Co
Address: 329 Princes Street, Central Dunedin, Dunedin 9016
Website: https://vanguardcoffee.co.nz

Being a Sunday it was free parking in town so we decided to go get this on don and dusted. As stated above we have been here before multiple times in the past and has been pretty constant with their quality of food and coffee.

They have a pretty good range of cabinet food plus a menu however they seem to be missing the basic's like cheese roll and sausage roll. However today Xaria ordered a cheese scone, while I ordered a cinnamon roll plus our standard coffees.

The scone and cinnamon wasn't heated or offered to be heated and was served with a small tub of butter and a knife on the side at the counter which we carried to the table that looked out over the main street, although my back was to that and I just had a view of the cafe... undecided (If you not fast you are last I guess)

While the savories were not heated we both mentioned that they didn't need to be. About halfway through eating our savories our coffees arrived. We both thought that seemed to have taken a while, but then thought about it since we got our savories straight away and didn't have to wait for them the extra time seemed like more waiting on the coffee but it probably wasn't.

Cheese Scone and Cinnamon roll Who-dacky

I really enjoyed my cinnamon roll muffin thingie (it has another name but I am not that technical nor do I actually know what the other name actually is) and my coffee was hot and pretty strong which is the way I like it. Xaria said she enjoyed her cheese scone. While the coffee was ok and drinkable fr her it was a bit on the strong side for her taste. (Again this is why we don't like to critique the coffee as it is a personal taste thing. However if one asks for hot and strong one should get that.)

The Vanguard does have that cafe feel to it and today it was quite busy when we arrived but not overly busy where the staff can't keep up. Our coffees' and savories cost around $25.00. The staff were friendly enough and ocerall we enjoyed our stay. Like we said above Vanguard has been pretty consistent in quality.
