RNZAF carried out a medical evacuation
NEWS || Aircrew on one of our Royal New Zealand Air Force Hercules aircraft have carried out a medical evacuation after a Kiribati fisherman was injured at sea. The Rescue Coordination Center Fiji and Maritime NZ 's Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand requested our support after the fisherman sustained serious injuries following a fall on a fishing vessel. The Hercules flew yesterday to Tarawa in Kiribati and landed in Fiji around midnight with the patient who was then taken by road to Lautoka Hospital. Our doctor and medic on board were in touch with doctors in New Zealand and Fiji throughout the mission. Along with everyone involved, we hope the injured man makes a speedy recovery.
