A letter has been delivered in letterboxes around Kerikeri threatening to "eradicate" Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
The NZ Herald reported the letter - that managed to spell the Prime Minister's name wrong - was delivered to a number of houses in December.
"Very soon a group of us are going to eradicate Jacinda Adern (sic) from this Earth plain for good," the NZ Herald reported.
The handwritten message then claimed Ardern was killing people and their means to live a fair and happy life.
"She is done. Bye bye Jacinda. Very soons (sic)," the letter said.
Senior Sergeant Phil Le Comte, of Mid North police, told the NZ Herald police are investigating the letter and it is being examined by the Police Documentation Examination Team in Wellington and the Fingerprint Section in Auckland.
This is not the first time Ardern has received death threats.
In 2019, Ardern said she received death threats after the Government's crackdown on military-style semi-automatic weapons and assault rifles following the Christchurch Mosque Shootings.
Ardern said then death threats are "a sad fact of life that that comes with these roles".
