HMNZS Canterbury is on the way home after delivering water tanks and other equipment to Atafu atoll in Tokelau. Atafu was the last stop, after visiting Fakaofo and Nukunonu atolls.

Our Seasprite helicopter and Royal New Zealand Air Force NH90 helicopters embarked on the ship have carried out around 105 underslung and internal loads of gear to the three atolls.

Forty-eight 15,000 litre water tanks will now be used, including at schools and hospitals, on the atolls. The last piece of equipment to be offloaded was a new generator for Atafu. The people of Atafu have been running an emergency back-up after their last generator packed up.
