There are two new cases in managed isolation and quarantine facilities today.

There was no live briefing today. In a statement, the Ministry of Health said one case arrived on 31 October from Singapore and tested positive around day three, and the other arrived was detected in managed isolation in Auckland, after being given permission to join a family member recently arrived from overseas.

The ministry said the case would be recorded as an import-related case.

All other staff from the Sudima Airport hotel managed isolation facility in Christchurch, where international fishing crew have been housed and two health workers tested positive over the past week, have returned negative tests, the ministry said.

All contacts of the two workers' cases had also tested negative and were in isolation, and genome sequencing indicated the infection of the first case was linked to five of the fishing crew cases.

Some 31 of the fishing crew members have tested positive with the Covid-19 coronavirus.

With eight people considered recovered, active cases dropped to 67. Total confirmed cases is at 1617.

Another 6391 tests were completed yesterday, bringing total tests to 1,120,130.

Yesterday, the ministry reported three cases of Covid-19 - an imported case, a historical case, and a community case revealed the day prior.
