The Ministry of Health on Saturday reported six new cases of COVID-19 community transmission.

Four have been linked to the existing known Auckland cluster, while two remain under investigation.

Of the linked four, two are household contacts and two are church contacts.

There have been 145 people linked to the cluster, whose origin remains unknown, that have been all moved to the Auckland quarantine facility - including 75 confirmed cases and household contacts.

So far 2060 people have been identified as close contacts linked to the cluster, with 2004 already contacted and self-isolating, the ministry said.

The total number of cases confirmed in New Zealand is now 1321, 111 of them active, including cases picked up in managed isolation at the border.

Of the six new cases, three were recorded in Counties-Manukau DHB area, two in Waitemata and one in Auckland.

Nine people are in hospital with COVID-19 - two in Auckland City Hospital, four people in Middlemore, two people in North Shore Hospital and one person in Waikato Hospital.

Six are stable and three are in ICU.

"We have heard reports of people who are reluctant to get an ambulance or go to hospital - hospitals continue to be safe places to receive medical care, and people should feel confident going to hospital to receive treatment," the ministry said.

More than 10,000 applications for an exemption to Auckland's border controls have been received. So far 1400 have been approved and 300 declined.

"Urgent exemptions, for example, to visit a dying relative, are prioritised and dealt with promptly," the ministry said.

"We encourage people to check the information on the website to see whether they need to apply. To make the application process easier, the team is working on creating a form that will be on the website soon."

The ministry also said approximately 42 percent of Kiwis over 15 have now installed the COVID Tracer app.
