Cyclone Sarai has left Kiwi tourists stranded as flights are grounded and some say they're now being charged $800 a night to stay.
At times winds reached over 100 km/h bringing torrential rain and flooding to the island.
It forced almost 2000 people in to evacuation centres set up inside schools across the country.
Holiday makers are trapped as the fury of the storm continues.
"We can't get a flight out until the 3rd of January, it's devastating really," said one Kiwi tourist.
Another Kiwi couple's resort has basically shut down.
"All the restaurants are closed…there's no power," they said.
They're now being charging $800 a night to stay there.
"We're stranded".
All flights in and out have been grounded with Fiji Airways cramming planes inside hangers to avoid damage.

The tropical cyclone is now heading towards Tonga.
