A plane-load of passengers are reportedly stuck on the tarmac after their aircraft was diverted from Wellington to Ohakea Airbase.

 The Qantas flight from Melbourne had to travel more than one-hundred kilometres north of Wellington, landing around 3pm. 

Passengers posting updates on social media say they cannot get off the plane until customs officials arrive from Wellington, and that the plane is getting incredibly hot.

Qantas has told Newshub the plane has a mechanical issue and the passengers will be bussed to Wellington.
