I hope some people are ashamed of themselves after Greta Thunberg's meltdown speech at a United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York.

I hope all those activists, those reckless politicians, who treated this chronically anxious and disturbed 16-year-old as the new Messiah are now shocked into some sense.

I hoped they are shocked enough to finally see they've been a party not just to a collective hysteria — but to extraordinary child abuse.

Here are some things you first need to know about her — things that her followers hate me pointing out: she is not the messiah, she is just a depressed, extremely anxious and very unhappy girl.

Her own parents, and Greta herself, have talked of her battle with depression and her chronic anxiety.

They talk of how she was so anxious that she couldn't go to school, couldn't eat for two months, couldn't speak at all for extended periods.

They've talked, too, of her autism, or her Asperger's syndrome, and tried to claim it was a superpower.

Yes, Greta called her psychological condition a superpower.

Asperger's or autism are very rarely an advantage.

In this case, Greta seems – as she said – to lack the ability to see the grey between black and white, to be able to compromise and see other people's points of view.

She seems chronically attracted to apocalyptic visions, to fear.

"I want you to panic, I want you to feel the fear I feel every day, and then I want you to act," Greta said.

This is why it is abuse to feed such a child crazy, threatening visions that global warming is going to wipe her out, wipe out the planet.

It is child abuse to then applaud this poor, fearful teenager when they get her to repeat those dark visions back to the deceitful adults who trained her so terribly.

The result of that abuse was a girl trembling and crying, a kid from a rich country, pampered by elites, who still thinks her life has been destroyed — and she can't handle that fear.

"You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, yet I'm one of the lucky ones," a watery-eyed Greta said at the UN climate event.

"People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing, we are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money."

I have such contempt for all the adults who made this girl cry with their global warming lies, like UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres who met and encouraged Greta, who himself on Monday told bizarre untruths.

"Nature is angry, and we fool ourselves if we think we can fool nature because nature always strikes back," he said.

"In May I went to the island nation of Tuvalu where I witnessed an entire country fighting for its very existence against rising seas." Lies, lies, lies.

An Auckland University study of Tuvalu, in fact, found over the past four decades three-quarters of the nation's islands actually grew.

The total land area increased 2.9 per cent, and around the Pacific it's exactly the same story: 43 per cent of islands are growing while another 43 per cent are stable — not drowning.

It's incredible the lies I hear repeated almost daily by politicians, journalists and activists to children like Greta, lies like cyclones are increasing.

No, they are not, not here and not around the world.

On it goes: more people are dying from climate disasters – like Greta said.

No, they're not.

Statistics from the International Disaster Database show the risk of dying from a climate-related disaster has actually dropped 99 per cent over the past decade.

Children have never been less likely to die from climate catastrophes, yet there is poor Greta never more convinced she'll be killed.

Who has done this to her?

It's those brainless activists and shameless politicians like United States Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez frightening them with totally fake stories claiming they've only got years left to live.

"The world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change, and your biggest issue is how are we going to pay for it," she said, equating the issue to the modern generation's World War II. Such filthy untruths.

It's child abuse. Shame on the people who turned Greta into their child Messiah, into their child martyr.
