Some passengers who flew from Brisbane to New Zealand are now being told to self-isolate, after a green zone breach in Australia.

The Ministry of Health was advised of a change of classification of some passengers by Queensland health authorities on Friday night.

The Facebook page for political party Advance NZ has been removed by the social media platform for violating its policies.

The controversial party ran in the 2020 election under the leadership of Jami-Lee Ross and Billy Te Kahika Jr and was notorious for pushing COVID-19 conspiracy theories and other misinformation.

New Zealand and Australia have added their voices to fresh condemnation of China for its alleged human rights abuses in the Xinjiang region, but Aotearoa is still yet to call the atrocities a "genocide".

Three members of the Five Eyes alliance - the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada - as well as the European Union on Tuesday imposed sanctions on Chinese officials linked to human rights breaches against the Uighur people in Xinjiang.

National's Foreign Affairs spokesperson is "more concerned now" than previously about activities in China's Xinjiang province after a highly orchestrated presentation by the Chinese Government attempting to show life there as harmonious and prosperous.

A number of New Zealand academics, journalists and figures from non-government organisations (NGOs) attended a Zoom conference on Friday afternoon hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Wellington and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's Government.

A group opposed to lockdowns, the Pfizer vaccine rollout and various other public health measures taken to protect Kiwis from COVID-19 has recently been distributing pamphlets online and in the real world. 

The group, Voices for Freedom, says it stands "for honesty, sound science, true government transparency, a proper health response... and the freedom for New Zealanders to choose what is right".

The amnesty period runs for another three months - until August - but the buyback ends tomorrow.

Labour will next week consider its position on an ACT Party-proposed motion asking MPs to debate whether China is committing acts of genocide against the Uighur people in Xinjiang.

Foreign Affairs Minister Nanaia Mahuta has also told Newshub she's asked for advice about what the "processes and considerations" are which go into determining a genocide.

Newshub can reveal the Government has been buying up hundreds of houses to turn into state homes, directly competing with first-home buyers in our cooked housing market. 

Since 2017, the Government has bought - rather than built - 1054 houses. Analysis by Newshub shows nearly a quarter of them were affordable homes, the type of houses the Government has been giving away free cash to get first-home buyers into.
