Toyota New Zealand says a feebate scheme would make electrified vehicles more affordable for the country's motorists.

Chief executive Neeraj Lala said the country would not follow through on its net-zero carbon target as part of the Paris Agreement if vehicle emissions were not slashed.

Australia’s prime minister angrily denounced a “repugnant”, “outrageous” and “appalling” tweet from a top Chinese government spokesman Monday and demanded Beijing formally apologise.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian sparked the outrage when he posted a staged image of a man dressed as an Australian soldier holding a bloody knife to an Afghan child’s throat.

China has become the second country in the world to plant its flag on the moon. 

It was placed into the lunar soil by the country's Chang'e-5 space probe, which is now on its way back to Earth with rock samples.

A top World Health Organisation (WHO) official has talked up New Zealand's approach to keeping the virus out on US television.

David Nabarro, WHO special envoy on COVID-19, told CNN on Saturday morning (NZ time) our approach has "been robust and it's been rigorous".
