The Asia-Pacific trade group APEC met overnight yesterday, an extraordinary two-hour summit of world leaders chaired by Jacinda Ardern and attended by 21 heads of state.

But after China confirmed on Thursday he would be there, President Xi Jinping actually beamed in with pre-recorded remarks. This is in contrast to US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin, who stayed on for the entire two-and-a-half-hour call.

An Auckland man who was employed by an aquatic pet store for six years was dismissed with a two-sentence email and left his position with 41 days of unused annual leave - which he was not compensated for upon his redundancy.

The man, Mr Foster, was employed by Aquaworld Ltd - an aquarium shop on Auckland's North Shore - from March 12, 2014 to August 10, 2020. He began working as a junior aquarist on a casual basis before taking on a full-time role, which was eventually terminated for redundancy in July 2020.

Twitter is being used to openly share material hosted on Mega. Every couple of minutes a new tweet promises links to the worst content imaginable, advertised using the hashtag #Megalinks, and other similar hashtags.
