More than two years after an elderly man died after falling from a mobility scooter on a damaged footpath one of the companies responsible for his health and safety has been fined $500,000.
WorkSafe Chief Investigator Hayden Mander says after the sentencing in the Manukau District Court on Wednesday, that Shannon Thompson Concrete Pumps Limited had obstructed the WorkSafe investigation, and didn’t turn up at Court.

A Māori man living in Melbourne has been turned away from a restaurant for having a full-faced tā moko, or mataora.
Gary Harding, from Ngāti Porou, booked a table on Saturday night at the Village Belle restaurant to say thank you to a group of touch rugby coaches who had come over from Aotearoa to run some training sessions.
