An airborne vehicle became lodged 10 metres above the ground in a pile of fruit crates overnight after a high-speed escape from police in Hastings.

The car was spotted driving at speed on the wrong side of Karamu Rd in the early hours of Sunday morning, a police spokesperson told Newshub. The driver failed to stop for police shortly before 12:30am and fled down Kenilworth Rd in Mayfair.

National's David Bennett says Labour has "no idea" about the housing market as the second week after the Government's changes to tax policy near an end.

Last week, the Government announced it would phase out the so-called "tax loophole" for property investors over four years. Investors responded by threatening to hike rents and pull out of the market.

The US and 14 other governments earlier this week issued a statement raising concerns about the recent World Health Organisation (WHO) study into the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic.  This was an interesting group: the US, Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, the Republic of Korea, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom.

A motorcyclist has issued an impassioned plea for motorists to stop cutting them off as they weave through traffic, saying it puts them in serious danger.

The man posted on a Tauranga community Facebook page ahead of the Easter long weekend reminding motorists to be careful.

In an extraordinary seven-minute tirade, a high-profile Australian television host has accused New Zealand of "backstabbing" Australia and "sucking up" to China by staying quiet on concerns about a World Health Organization (WHO) report into the origins of COVID-19.

Newshub first reported on Thursday morning that New Zealand didn't join its partners in releasing a statement on the WHO report as it wanted more time to analyse the study.

A group representing migrant workers says 10 Chinese men found working illegally at Auckland construction sites should not be deported.

Two were due to be deported last night, but RNZ has not had official confirmation that the deportation went ahead.
