Kiwis have been warned against breaching health requirements to engage in casual sexual activity.

The alert level 4 lockdown in response to the coronavirus pandemic has effectively barred New Zealanders from having physical contact with anybody outside their household for the next month.

A Hamilton woman wants to know what people can and can't do after her parents were told to go home by police while out walking.

As the country began its first day of a minimum 4-week Covid-19 lockdown, Kirstin McNabb told the Herald her parents, aged 68 and 74, were going for a walk around Hamilton Lake about 11am today when they were stopped by police.

The man accused of the Christchurch mosque attacks has entered shock guilty pleas.

So... social distancing, lockdown, quarantine, all because we are all treating each other like a disease-ridden zombies. Sounds rough but if you treat everyone else like they have COVID-19 and they are treating you like you have it, then it is an easy mindset to keep your distance.

Scammers were already hitting the streets ahead of the nationwide coronavirus lockdown.

New Zealand moved to alert level 4 on Wednesday night, meaning non-essential businesses must be shut, people must stay indoors and travel is severely limited. There will be an increased police presence in the community to educate people about the new rules as well as to disrupt any gatherings taking place. Officers will also be on the lookout for anyone trying to take advantage of the lockdown for looting.
