ANALYSIS: China has been flying a record number of military aircrafts into Taiwan’s “air defence identification zone” in recent days, heightening regional concerns about the risk of military escalation or even an outright war.

Taiwanese people are largely alert, but not alarmed. So, why are the Taiwanese not losing their minds over what seems to be intensifying “drums of war”?

A person who worked with the New Zealand Defence Force in Afghanistan was killed by the Taliban overnight, 1News understands.

Note from Nighthawk.NZ:
I am going to be blunt... This falls on your hands Jacinda... your hands... you had ample time to get them out and didn't. You fumbled about with your weak arsed "Defence Minister" and misguided inexperienced "Minister of Foreign Affairs" flouting about wasting time. Time was the one thing you didn't have. You were more worried about making sure you say the right thing but not doing the right thing.

This is the second interpreter that we know that has been killed by the Taliban. The blood is on your hands, and your hands alone. You could have got them out earlier this year but you didn't. Why? How many more?

How many more? There is a saying most armed forces have and being ex navy it still stands true to me... No one left behind. They helped our troops... why didn't you help them. Jacinda, You make me sick. You are a hack.

And when you did make a move it was far too little, far too late. Why not send 2nd C-130, and a 757... oh were they broken and only one flyable? And we can't blame the armed forces but you as government that supplies their equipment, they do the best they can with what they are given.

You don't take defence seriously enough, you are a typical talker and do nothing politician with your "Oh I push back on that with we just upgraded the frigates and doing.. blah blah blah." Bullocks and again too little, too late. Start taking defence seriously.

Rocket Lab is one of New Zealand's success stories, but what satellites it's sending into orbit for the United States Military is raising concerns.

Former Defence Minister Wayne Mapp is the Deputy Chair of the Public Advisory Committee on Disarmament and Arms Control (PACDAC) which advises the Government on weapons control.

Note from Nighthawk.NZ:

Poppy cock... the whole thing is a bit far reaching... it like saying we will ban any ship that is "capable of carrying nuclear weapons..." well that is every single ship in the ocean is capable of that... Any satellite data could be used or have a second mission that is not told about to help guide, track, and target... small radar  and sensor, comms and high powered camera... well many satellites have this... upload new mission parameters and specs... oh hello... while I agree there is a bit more to it... how ever this whole issue is a bit far reaching...

Afghan people living in this country are pleading with the government not to forget about people with connections to New Zealand still stuck in Afghanistan.

They fear those who did not make it out when the Taliban swiftly took control will be ignored now the world's attention has moved on.
