Lee Williams is a podcaster and YouTuber who regularly uploads far-right material, and was reportedly visited by police in the wake of the Christchurch terror attacks.

Newstalk ZB host Mike Hosking is threatening to move to Australia if New Zealand doesn't reject the Government's "left-leaning progressive thinking", garnering mixed reactions on social media.

Hosking called the Government an "ideological outlier" in a column for the NZ Herald on Thursday morning, ahead of Finance Minister Grant Robertson's Budget announcement at 2pm.

Patches of the ocean around North Island's East Coast are already experiencing heatwaves, and those near Canterbury and Otago could be next in line.

There's doubt there will be many major announcements in the Budget on Thursday due to the Government's level of debt.

The latest update from Treasury shows it has more than $105 billion of debt - up almost 20 percent on February last year.

The Ministry of Defence is testing the waters with the military maritime industry over a new ship to patrol the vast icy expanse between New Zealand and Antarctica.

The project is in its early stages, but planning documents indicate the ice-strengthened ship would cost between $300m and $600m.

The Royal Family is allegedly "distressed and angry" following Prince Harry's "hurtful" comments about royal life, in which he compared his role in the monarchy to "living in a zoo".

Royal expert Katie Nicholl spoke to ET about the fallout from Harry's appearance on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, in which he revealed he'd been wanting to leave the royal family since his early 20s.

A group of Democratic U.S. lawmakers on Tuesday urged Facebook Inc to drop plans for a version of photo-sharing app Instagram for children younger than 13, saying the social media company had failed to "make meaningful commitments to protecting kids online."

Senators Ed Markey and Richard Blumenthal and Representatives Kathy Castor and Lori Trahan said Facebook had not addressed their concerns.
