China insists it doesn't want to see a "split between Australia and New Zealand" following a remark from the Australian Prime Minister on Monday noting there are some "far from here who would seek to divide us".
But the Chinese Foreign Ministry is "deeply concerned" about the two countries' leaders expressing concern about the Asian nation's actions in Hong Kong, Xinjiang and the South China sea, describing their comments as "irresponsible".

The foreign ministry of Malaysia on Tuesday said it would summon China's envoy to explain an "intrusion" by 16 air force planes into its airspace, after the Southeast Asian country's military detected "suspicious" activity over the South China Sea.
Malaysia's air force said it scrambled jets on Monday to conduct visual confirmation after the planes flew within 60 nautical miles off Sarawak state of Malaysian Borneo.

Married Chinese couples may have up to three children, China announced on Monday, in a major shift from the existing limit of two after recent data showed a dramatic decline in births in the world's most populous country.
Beijing scrapped its decades-old one-child policy in 2016, replacing it with a two-child limit to try and stave off risks to its economy from a rapidly aging population. But that failed to result in a sustained surge in births given the high cost of raising children in Chinese cities, a challenge that persists to this day.
